Hoken Tech releases blockchain video game code on EOS

Welcome to Hoken Tech

Most of us are used to knowing and seeing the blockchain as the underlying structure of a cryptocurrency, which allows this way to carry out exchanges independently and without intermediaries, of any amount in any place without borders.

Instead, those who have approached the world of NFTs see this technology as a new opportunity to create and distribute the arts (images, videos, music, and more) independently and directly with the end user.

But we are only on the surface of what the blockchain can offer as other sectors are growing, see for example decentralized finance (DeFi) which has reached billions, or that will grow over time, such as the blockchain video game sector.

A blockchain video game represents the natural evolution of the video games we are all used to, but the substantial change of these games is based on blockchain technology to record the various progress and objects that players make within it.

In addition, these types of video games have several advantages such as:

  • It has no fixed costs for maintaining the servers, which, as we have learned from the past, game houses tend to shut down after a certain number of years, cutting off all players and their progress
  • It allows anyone to play, both geographically and hardware-wise, as these video games allow them to be played on any device such as smartphones, PCs, tablets, Apple Watches, and even on our smart cars
  • They are safe, a scourge afflicting the sector is undoubtedly the cracking of video games with false licenses and codes, and the use of match-fixing tools that some players do to obtain unfair advantages, but thanks to blockchain technology and the smart contract on which it is based, this allows an absolute level of protection against external tampering, as all transactions are recorded and foreseen by the smart contract itself
  • Unlimited, as for traditional video games, even blockchain video games have no limits to the type of video game or gameplay to be used as already several graphics engines and tools, such as Unity, allow developers to integrate the blockchain part within their video games (see for example the Nice1 plugin)
  • Use tradable and monetizable assets, not to forget that blockchain video games also allow the famous NFTs to be used and integrated, and therefore allow players who acquire them during the game to sell or exchange them, making a considerable profit

Among other things, the choice of the blockchain on which to develop the video game should not be overlooked as it must allow for the processing of thousands of transactions in a short time, as we have seen in the past, as in the case of KryptoKitties, that if you do not choose a reliable and fast blockchain, everything becomes congested and undermines the blockchain itself.

In this case, it is advisable to focus on fast, efficient, and possibly carbon-neutral blockchains. Certainly, a suitable choice for this type of video game is the EOS blockchain, which allows transactions of seconds, and a high transaction capacity we are talking about a friendly blockchain of the environment because it is carbon-neutral.

Creating and developing a blockchain video game requires resources and professionals of a certain level since in addition to the aspect of creating the video game it is necessary to support another figure which is that of the blockchain developer who allows you to integrate during the development process, all those elements related to the blockchain, such as the smart contract, the wallet, any NFTs and so on.

Thanks to some professionals within the startup Hoken Tech, the same thanks to some funds received between hackathons and various grants, has decided to release the code of one of its blockchain video games, allowing anyone to create and test their video game cards on the EOS blockchain.

In this way, all those who want to create a video game will be able to take advantage of a starting and functioning model, to which they will then be able to add and expand other information to the same, also integrating functions not foreseen in the original code.

As mentioned, the game is a classic card game where you will have to face an artificial intelligence that will do everything to defeat us, and at the following address it is possible to test and play on the Jungle4 testnet network (here to create a test account https://monitor4 .jungletestnet.io/#home):

Anyone wishing to try their hand at creating their own card video game on the blockchain can do so by taking advantage of the repo on Hoken Tech's GitHub.

Finally, we conclude with the video of the CTO of Hoken Tech, Alfredo, where he explains and illustrates other information relating to the game:
