Welcome to Hoken Tech
Contrary to what is being said about the NFT (non fungible tokens) market being in free fall and a “dead” sector, NFTs are alive and well, and we’re here to tell you about a new collection from Como-based artist Doriam Battaglia.
The Hoken Tech team had the opportunity to meet and interview artist Doriam Battaglia (you can find the complete interview here), which allowed him to explore this new world and communication opportunity, as well as monetization, for his fabulous works of art.
It’s worth noting that the artist, with a background in architecture, has significant experience in painting and holds a teaching position at the Aldo Galli Academy of Fine Arts in Como, indicating his important stature both artistically and professionally.
In fact, for those unfamiliar with the fascinating story behind his works, novices might compare it to a form of abstract expressionism practiced by the more famous Jackson Pollock, but it’s actually art that he defines as “pre-formal” — art that attempts to capture form in its realization, in its appearance. The colors and brushstrokes suggest “forms” through the observer’s imagination.
For this project, the artist has decided to tokenize a collection of his paintings, eight in total, from the “Mirabilia” series, distinguished by his unique and unmistakable style. Like the paintings, the NFTs are single copies, testament to the uniqueness of his works.
We can’t help but reference art critic Vincenzo Guarracino’s analysis of these works:
“In ‘Mirabilia,’ Battaglia pursues the creation of an ‘alphabet of signs,’ allowing color to develop freely on the canvas, beyond any decorative or naturalistic intent. Through skilled gestures, the artist allows color to materialize into forms that generate strong emotions in the observer, creating a visual language made of points, lines, and dynamic forms.”
The work is characterized by a continuous search for light and new forms, where pictorial elements organize themselves into a complex network of signs and images, creating what Guarracino defines as a “catalog of the world,” where the artistic gesture becomes the true protagonist of the creative process.
As mentioned, this collection of physical art (which can be viewed and purchased here) has been tokenized, starting from the paintings themselves, so we’re talking about genuine pieces of art and not collectibles with thousands of copies, which is reflected in the price.
All NFTs were created on the EOS blockchain, which was the first in the world to be carbon-neutral and became climate-positive in 2023 thanks to the blockchain managers’ commitment to using over 80% renewable energy.
Certainly, both art and NFTs still have much to say, and there are many artists gradually approaching this sector, realizing that it represents an additional channel to make their works known worldwide and share their art with those who use highly technological and advanced means like blockchain and NFTs.
