Hard Fork EOS

Experience Instant Transactions

Welcome to Hoken Tech

September 25, 2024 marked a significant milestone in the blockchain industry as the EOS Network successfully completed a historic hard fork to launch Antelope Spring 1.0.

This monumental upgrade, spearheaded by the EOS Network Foundation, introduces the cutting-edge Savanna consensus algorithm, positioning EOS at the vanguard of blockchain technology by dramatically reducing transaction finality to a remarkable one second—a more than 100x improvement over previous iterations.

A Leap Forward in Blockchain Technology

The Spring 1.0 upgrade not only enhances speed, security, and scalability but also sets a new standard for future cryptographic innovations. Supported by EOS’s global decentralized community, the upgrade embodies the collective vision of empowering more robust and secure blockchain infrastructures.

As Bart Wyatt, CTO of the EOS Network Foundation, highlighted: "The introduction of Savanna represents an unparalleled advancement in the blockchain world. Achieving one-second finality is a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation."

Yves La Rose, CEO of the foundation, emphasized the collaborative spirit behind this technical feat. “Spring 1.0 signifies a landmark shift in blockchain history. The associated improvements in transaction speed and security pave the way for a new generation of decentralized applications.

Collaborative Engineering at Its Best

The transition to Spring 1.0 and the activation of Savanna demonstrated a collaborative effort involving global block producers and extensive testing on multiple testnets. Coordinated by pre-approved multisignature proposals (msigs), the upgrade transitions EOS to a more secure and rapid blockchain model, further cementing its place among the most technically advanced platforms.

Brian Hazzard, EOS Lead Product Manager, praised the efforts that led to establishing EOS as the benchmark for blockchain performance.

The Savanna Consensus Algorithm - Revolutionizing Blockchain

Spring 1.0 introduces the Savanna (Scalable Agreement on Validated Additions with Nimble Nonrepudiating Attestation) consensus algorithm, a transformative leap in consensus models. Combining aggregate BLS signatures with other advanced cryptographic techniques, Savanna ensures irreversible transactions are finalized within just one second—ushering in a new era of speed and scalability.

Areg Hayrapetian, the principal architect of the Savanna consensus algorithm, stressed the rigorous testing and mathematical analysis driving this innovation, promising groundbreaking potential for future cryptographic enhancements.

The Path Forward - Enhanced Privacy and Modular Flexibility

Beyond its advancements in speed and security, Spring 1.0 introduces capabilities for enhanced privacy and flexibility in network roles. As part of this evolution, Spring 1.0 allows for potential future separation of block proposer and finalizer roles, fostering a more modular and decentralized architecture.

Additionally, with a strategic shift to a Business Source License (BSL), Spring 1.0 balances innovation protection with community involvement by ensuring that commercial uses contribute back to the ecosystem.

A New Chapter for EOS

With Spring 1.0 live, EOS continues to embody technological leadership and community-driven growth, reaffirming its commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in blockchain technology. This upgrade lays a solid foundation for future innovations, promising a new era of blazing-fast performance and decentralization.

Stay tuned for further developments as EOS propels forward, redefining the capabilities of blockchain technology.
